June 10th – Alternative Wakefield

A day and a night of free cultural activity taking place at St Austin’s Theatre, Wakefield. All are welcome to join us and many Wakefield artists, to socialise, create, share and discuss what we want for the future of Wakefield Culture and how Wakefield Arts Partnership can play an effective role in the city and district. With the city recently receiving nearly £250,000 in Cultural Destinations funding, it’s a great time to get together, get excited and be positive!

Crux – New Arts space Crux will provide a welcoming and social space to meet and chat.

Digital Gallery – Projections of local artists work.

Dream Time Creative – Writing & Spoken Word Workshop + Performance.

FlyGirl Films – Screening work at Pop Up Cinema.

HQ Arts – Theatre Workshop, film and Performance

Jolly Boys Brewery – Hand-pull Beers.

Long Division – Neon, merchandise and a chance to inform 2018s event.

One To One Developement Trust – Present their Wallpaper VR project.

Philophobia Music – Records and music galore from Wakefield’s Record Label.

Pop-up Cinema – From short films to music videos to documentaries; all made in Wakefield.

Ralph Dartford & The Bleeding Obvious – Live Music / Spoken Word Performance.

Rhubarb Triangle – Physical Theatre Workshop.

Simon Widdop – Spoken Word Performance.

Skysail Studios – Screening work at the Pop Up Cinema.

Wakefield Beer Exchange – Rum Cocktail Workshop.

Wakefield Jazz – Discuss their work and programme + videos of performances at the venue.

Wood Street: The Heart Of Wakefield – See some of the materials produced by this Lottery Heritage funded project.
